Understanding Wagering Requirements

Wagering requirements (also called rollover or playthrough) are the number of times you must bet your bonus—and sometimes your deposit—before you can withdraw winnings. This guide explains how they work and what to look for before you claim an offer.

What are wagering requirements?

When a casino gives you a bonus (e.g. €50 no deposit or 100% match on your first deposit), they attach a wagering requirement. It’s usually written as a multiplier, such as 35x or 40x. That means you must wager the bonus amount (or bonus + deposit, depending on the offer) that many times before the bonus and any winnings from it become withdrawable.

Example: you receive a €20 no deposit bonus with 35x wagering. You must place €20 × 35 = €700 in total bets before you can cash out. If the requirement is 35x (bonus + deposit) and you deposit €50 and get a €50 bonus, you’d need to wager (€50 + €50) × 35 = €3,500.

Bonus only vs bonus + deposit

Always check whether the wagering applies to the bonus only or to bonus + deposit. Bonus-only is easier to clear. Bonus + deposit (often called “B+D”) means a much higher total turnover, so the offer is harder to complete.

Game weightings and contribution

Not all games count 100% toward wagering. Slots usually count in full. Table games (blackjack, roulette, baccarat) often count at 10% or are excluded. So €100 staked on slots might count as €100, but €100 on blackjack might count as €10. Always check the casino’s bonus terms or “game weighting” table before you play.

Time limits and expiry

Most bonuses have an expiry (e.g. 7, 14, or 30 days). If you don’t meet the wagering in that time, the bonus and any winnings from it are usually forfeited. Make sure you have enough time to complete the requirement at a stake level you’re comfortable with.

Max bet and max win caps

While you’re clearing wagering, the casino may cap your maximum bet per spin or hand (e.g. €5). Exceeding it can void the bonus. Some offers also cap maximum withdrawal from a no deposit bonus (e.g. €100). These are always stated in the terms.

What to look for before claiming

  • Is wagering on the bonus only or bonus + deposit?
  • What is the multiplier (e.g. 30x vs 50x)? Lower is easier to clear.
  • Which games count and at what percentage?
  • What is the expiry?
  • Are there max bet or max cashout limits?

Where to find the full terms

Every offer has full terms on the casino’s website (and often linked from our casino bonuses and no deposit bonuses pages). We always recommend reading the terms before you claim. If you’re unsure, contact the casino’s support.

FAQ

Do no deposit bonuses have wagering?

Yes. No deposit bonuses almost always have wagering requirements, and often a maximum withdrawal cap. Check the terms before you play.

What does 35x wagering mean?

You must wager the bonus (or bonus + deposit, as stated) 35 times before the bonus and winnings can be withdrawn. For a €10 bonus, that’s €350 in total bets (if only bonus counts).

Can I clear wagering on table games?

It depends on the offer. Many bonuses restrict table games or count them at 10%. Slots usually count 100%. Always check the game weighting in the terms.
